Belize City was raveged by a storm; however the storm could not destroy the character of the of those who lived there and those folks eventually decided to create a new city in a safer location. A tale like this would make a good book…and it would be based on a true set of events of what happened about forty years ago in a place just south of Mexico. This is what basically happened when the smallest capital city of the world was create – Belmopan, Belize.

Belize City, the former capital city located along the coast, was wrecked by a category 5 storm in 1961 so a new capital city was created further inland and it was named Belmopan. Like many other people, I too wanted to see the city that was built as a result of a concerted effort of its people. Fortunately, whenever visiting this new capital city there is a Belmopan hotel available to meet almost any taste.

There are many interesting things to see in the Belmopan area such as the Mopan river, the Blue Hole and ancient caves used by the Mayan and fortunately there are hotels in Belmopan located by these places.

If you want to visit a place that is near the rain forest and the mountains then come to Belmopan since there are a wide variety of hotels right in the area – there is bound to be a Belmopan hotel for you. Since there are so many people that visit Belmopan looking for a different experience most of these hotels are prepared to handle almost every types of visitor from single travelers to large families. Also, there are a host of bread and breakfast hotels in Belmopan that cater to the requirements of budget conscious travelers.

There are no 5 star hotels in the Belmpan area but there are still several places you can stay at with a high level of service. They offer facilities like Internet in the rooms, wireless, television, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone and a  host of other facilities, making the stay of their guests truly memorable and pleasurable.

So, if you want to have a great vacation, you can choose to stay at one of the hotels in Belmopan.
